They Had Their Chance

So the game has come and gone, and it was one of the best games I’ve watched in a very long time. Both teams lived up to all of the hype that has been building up for the whole season. My latest guest blogger had his prediction of Michigan coming out victorious, yet I thought otherwise, and I was right!
So OSU came out on top, so what do I think about the game? Well OSU showed that they were the best team in the country. Troy Smith was on top of his game the whole time and basically sealed up his Heisman trophy. I wanted to see a shootout of a game instead of a defensive game, but I didn’t think the scoring would be that high.
I was watching a post-game interview with Mike Hart and he was yapping about OSU’s defense not being all that great and that if he had a rematch the turnout would be alot different. Well Mr. Mike Hart, you had your chance. You didn’t capitalize on their “not so great” defense. Michigan had their chances but they shot themselves in the foot. They didn’t take advantage of the turnovers.
Michigan committed a dumb ass penalty of a helmet-to-helmet hit on Troy Smith on a very critical 3rd and 15. Who’s fault is that?! Therefore, the Buckeyes capitalized on that. Second, in Michigan’s first drive, they were solid as hell. Came out passing quite a bit and actually looked like an aggressive offense. After that first drive, Lloyd Carr gave up that plan of attack and went conservative again…typical. You can’t beat the Buckeyes playing conservative because they put up mad points.
Everyone wants to see a rematch for the national championship, and who knows, maybe this actual game was the championship. Me personally, I don’t want to see Michigan in the big game. They had their chance and didn’t win, so now someone else should have a chance. Everyone is thinking USC if they win out but not many are mentioning Florida. Of course I’m a Gators fan, but seriously, why is no one ruling them in? They have had one of the hardest schedules in all of football, way harder than Michigan, USC, and Notre Dame. If they win out, I think they should be in the big game.
Can they beat OSU? I really don’t know, because OSU is hella solid, I can’t even act like they aren’t. But I would like to see Florida have a shot. If not Florida then sure I’d like to see USC play them as well. I just want to see someone have a chance against OSU because Michigan blew it, and late season losses like this should never allow you to get into the big game. I’d rather not Notre Dame go because I think they are highly over rated, but I wouldn’t mind seeing OSU whip the shit out of them.
The rest of the season is very important, because for all of this to really play out, USC, Florida, or ND have to win out to see how the BSC decides to fuck someone over. So I just look forward to seeing if all these teams tough it out to see who makes it to the big dance.
What do you think, and who would you like to see in the big game?

Actually, your guest blogger employed the reverse jinxing technique in which you predict opposite what you want to happen to ensure maximum Karma forgiveness. It was a clever move on his part.
Michigan rematch if USC loses and Florida loses. USC is they win out. Maybe Florida if they beat Arkansas by 14+.
It was a 3pt loss on the road. It would be interesting to see what happened on a neutral field with the death of Bo not hanging over the players.

Yeah I didn’t pick up that reverse jinxing, which I don’t know why I didn’t pick that up!
No disagreement that if FL and USC lose then Michigan will be in it. I just don’t want to see Michigan in the big game. I’m strongly against a team having two chances in a row for that #1 spot.
You can’t really play the Bo card again, I honestly don’t think that had any affect over the game.

it really doesnt matter who lines up against ohio state in the national championship game because the bigger the spot light the better troy smith performs. The only reason i do not want to see michigan in the national championship game is i am a vindictive ass who likes them to be punished whenever possible. they had their chance and they blew it i want to see a new team get slaughtered by the buckeyes. i honestly think if ohio state were to line up against the lions the buckeyes would win. thats some bull shit though that michigan is still number 2 in the bcs rankings, they lost last week i think they should move down at least one spot. i wouldnt mind seeing notre dame in the final game just because it would piss off michigan fans. the game i would like to see the most would be ohio state and florida though. the sec is a much better conference than the pac-10. i have very little respect for the pac-10. people on the west coast dont play football as good as people from the midwest. but like i said it doesnt matter who lines up against ohio state, whoever they are, they are going down. GO BUCKEYES!!!

YES, YES, Y-E-S! Finally someone agreeing with me that Michigan should not be second in the Big Ten. And about Florida. Now, I’m not even saying that Florida should get a chance because I’m a fan, I’m saying it because everyone seems to rule them out like they aren’t near the top of the BCS.
No matter who it is though, I don’t see the Buckeyes losing.

There was no doubt who was the better team between OSU and UM. OSU practically gave UM the game and they couldn’t capitalize. The score was a lot closer than what really happened on the field. If OSU doesn’t get a phantom pass interference call late in the game OSU wins by 11, no question UM doesn’t deserve a rematch. Who did UM actually beat this year that was good? No one. ND makes it to another BCS game because they are Notre Dame (2 years in a row they make it into a BCS game w/o beating a team that finished n the top 25). I don’t know what to think about Wisconsin. They could be a good team, we will never know since they also didn’t beat a team that finished in the top25 and didn’t face OSU. Who did Florida play? Let’s see, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee. With all that said GO GATORS.

Yes. Thank you for realizing that UM fucked up their chances. They didn’t capitalize to the (too)mant opportunities that they had. Their loss.
