The Start of Something Good

Time goes by pretty fast when you’re getting things done, and with a quick spark of motivation, I realize that I haven’t written here in 10 days. So I suppose that it’s a good time to write a bit and let you know what is going on.
So first off, I’ve been talking alot in the past few months about this business that I’m starting with a few colleagues from State. Well that is now a reality, and as of last week our website is live, and we are open for business. I was going to do a Sound Session about it with Andrew as a guest, but it didn’t work out, so I’ll just write about it. I was in East Lansing this weekend to go over some marketing stuff, and set up an ad campaign in Google, which is alot harder than it seems.
So I guess some details would be nice huh? Well first and foremost, the name that we decided on for the company was Tridea. At first the concept of the name was for three guys with one idea, that idea being design. But when playing around with that name and thinking through what we want to be about (identity), that concept changed to running to company with three core values: creativity, simplicity, and communication. That is how we plan on operating our business, from the work we do, to handling clients, etc.
The logo process might have been the hardest thing to do. It took us a very long time, but we came to a solution. Tyler was the man behind the concept, and damn it’s good. The minute he showed it to me, I knew that we had found our mark. It was a good feeling.
We’ve gotten some good feedback on our site and design, and we couldn’t be more excited that the hard work that we’ve put in since August 1st has finally paid off, and we can show it now. I’m expecting a big year for us, and I’ve set some goals for the company that I am confident that we can accomplish.
So each of us have our roles. I’m the CEO, which sounds weird, so I’ll be running the company overall and keeping everyone motivated. Andrew (CFO) will handle all of the finances, and Tyler (CIO) being the one handling information flow throughout the company. We are each very fit for our roles. I think this will be a huge learning experience for us all, and I am looking forward to working with them from here on out.
We have been running a blog for some time too, which we will continue to do. The writing on that site is aimed directly at people that are interested in what we do. So we try to make sure that the writing and terminology isn’t over the head of that might read it.
So those are the details! I think not blogging for the past week here has just been justified, and it was for good reason. So there you go, I think I covered everything that I wanted to, and if there’s anything I didn’t mention that you want to know, just ask. And if you know anyone that might be interested in the services of Tridea, send them our way!
Peace
