Time For a little Texas

The past week has been crazy busy with work at the day job, work at the side job, and work on my personal site. I finished up a design for my design blog, and started coding the hell out of it basically all weekend so that I could push it out before I left for Texas. Mission: accomplished!
Then, Tuesday night, I was proud to see the new site, however, I wanted business cards to match the look, and to hand out to people that I network with in Texas. Suddenly, I felt like I was running too low on time. So I got home early yesterday morning (about 7:30am), did some last tweeks to my site, and designed up a business card to match the look. We’re talking a 10-minute power design session. Mission: accomplished.
8:00am I was done and it was time to get ready for work. The morning was busy, and lunchtime came quickly. So, on my lunch break, I boogied over to Kinko’s with my design for a business card. Since this was just yesterday, and I needed them by this morning, we needed these cards extra fast. So I go in…
Clerk: Can I help you?
Me: I need business cards ASAP, what’s the fastest turnaround you have?
Clerk: Well we can have them ready in the morning, then when you approve them, we can have them printed 5 hours afterwards
Me: Nay! We need them faster. I don’t need to approve them, just print them. Now,0 how fast?
Clerk: Well in that case, we can have them for you at 8:00 am.
Me: WORD! I will be back tomorrow morning.
The convo wasn’t exactly like that, but it was very similar. The rest of my day was fast and busy. Had a good dinner with Kell and Kim at Andiamo’s where I completely zoned out on the good music being played.
So this morning, I arrive at Kinko’s, the lady hands me my cards, and they looked good. Good print job, fast turnaround, and I now have business cards to hand out like Halloween candy down in Austin. Mission: Accomplished.
I am about to start getting ready to run some errands before leaving, but I am hella geeked, and I need this breather very bad, though it will be busy in Texas too. My mind has been so clouded with work that I need a break. It’s so hard not to think about work when you are doing so much of it.
I am setting a goal for myself to write on this blog everyday while down there. Will there be time? Who knows, between being in panels all day, networking, cocktailing, and writing on my other blog, it will be a task to write on this blog as well, but I am going to do it. Might be long posts, might be short, but there will be writing. Also keep an eye our for my Flickr account, because I am definitely taking many many pictures.
So I’m out, and for all you people staying in the cold….you try not to get frost bite and I will try not to get sun burn!
Sorry, I had to do it.
Peace
