These Things Make it all Worth It

The past week of work has been straight up exhausting. Especially last week. After getting back from Texas, I was “kindly” greeted with a butt load of work and extremely late nights to meet deadlines. Thursday I don’t think I left until about 11 p.m., Friday I worked until 2:30 a.m. (yes starting at 9:00 a.m.), and this past Monday I worked until 11:30 p.m.

Am I complaining? Well, not really, it’s just exhausting and wears on you very fast. Trying to stay mentally sharp while staring at a computer screen for 10+ hours can be rough. Sitting on a computer all day always seems like easy work from the outside looking in, but talking from the inside out…..the shit is not easy. I promise you that.

But then comes times like to today that make working at my job all worth it. So back in December they started construction on this media room right next to the lobby. So in this media room, there is a ridiculous amount of gadgets: two 60″ HDTVs, Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, amazing sound system, Tivo, DirectTv, sweet computer, and a wall full of the latest gadgets. Basically, this is my dream living room.

Today it was all done, and they had a little announcement about it. And we’re not talking an email announcement. The company president had a bunch of people in the lobby and broadcasted it over the net for company people. In addition, they had a big table top full of beverages. We’re talking all kinds of beer, wine, and other non-alcoholic drinks that were free for taking to “celebrate” this event.

So basically, me and some co-workers spent about two hours throwing back some cold juices and playing with gadgets and video games on a system that I can only dream of at this point. I immediately forgot about the long hours worked in the past week (which was waaaay less than some other guys on the team) and just continued being proud of working for such a cool company.

Peace
