Fair Trade

A couple weeks ago, I had decided that I was going to sell my iMac that I had purchased last summer. Yes, I loved this computer, and went through quite a bit to get the thing. So why sell? Well, two reasons really, both logical. For one, ever since buying my Macbook Pro a couple months ago, the iMac hasn’t seen much action aside from using it for music. But since I have an external hard drive, that music can be played from anywhere. The second reason, is well, I wanted a new tv. No surprise there.
To be honest, I had been thinking about tv’s for the past couple months, because I really wanted an upgrade, but I was seriously not planning on getting one because they would be too expensive, and yes I like to buy stuff, but seriously, tv’s are far from cheap. At least ones that I looked at. So, the decision to sell my iMac was justified, and since the resale value is normally pretty solid for Macs, then I knew I could get a decent amount.
So salesman John came out, and I posted the iMac on the Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and AllMSU. What did I get from those, not a damn thing. I even had one person contact me saying “I’ll give you $300.” I decided to be mature and just not email him back all of the angry thoughts that came to mind after reading that damn near disrespectful email. I also chose not to sell to some random guy in Nigeria because he just didn’t seem legit.
In comes eBay. I was trying to avoid eBay because I didn’t want to have to deal with shipping and all that. I’m a modern kinda guy, and like everything to be done online, and in a perfect world, this buy would have come to my apt. to pick up the iMac so I wouldn’t have to move too far. Ok, maybe that’s just lazy and not modern. Anyways, I put it on eBay, and it sells as planned. Now, I have to go ship the damn thing which, I hate. I can’t stand mailing stuff.
So out with the old, and in with the new……it’s now time to get the tv that I was eyeballing. There was nothing wrong with my last tv, except the fact that it was big, old, and clunky. That’s not how I roll…..I like new, sleek, and sexy. And I figured a tv for my living room needed to be just that. So, we upgraded…

42″ of LCD HD goodness. The Pistons lose looked so much better than it did on my last tv (sorry, I couldn’t help it). The tv is nice, and I am very satisfied with it. It’s even more gratifying that I basically traded my old computer for a new tv, and not a dime came out of my pocket in paying for this thing. I won’t miss my computer at all, and I think it was a good idea to trade something I rarely use for something that I will use a lot. I like the impulse buying that doesn’t cost me anything.
So, now it’s time to go play video games and enjoy my lazy Sunday………..in front of the tv.
Peace
