A Homecoming It Was

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

So this past weekend, was the MSU homecoming and because of that, it just sounds like it’s going to be a fun weekend. Now, last week we only had part of the Stoddard Alumni in effect, and this the remainder of the crew came into town. So in a matter of two weeks, I got to party with all of the old crew, which is not an easy task considering that everyone is spread out these days. (more…)

Stoddard Alumni Do It Best!

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Sorry for the delay in posts, but there is reason, so just know that I’m doing something important and productive if not I’m blogging on this site……..It’s not laziness. Well actually, yesterday was laziness/recovery because of the events that went down this weekend. So moving right along, it was that time a year where the Stoddard Alumni had rally up and do it like we used to. And it was very good times. (more…)

Do I have Gray Hairs Yet?

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

For the past few days (prior to Saturday) I had been looking forward to making my return to East Lansing for the day for a business meeting and to chill with the homies. I can’t lie, parts of me definitely miss the atmosphere there, but I still like where I am now. It felt real weird being back there, for one because I hadn’t been there in awhile, and two, cause it was one of the first times that I really realized that East Lansing wasn’t home anymore like it had been for the previous 6 years of my life.

So I’m seeing all of these students that look like they’re all 15. It made me feel so old, and nothing about the age of 23 sounds old. It’s even more weird that I don’t really know anyone in East Lansing anymore. There’s Double O, Paulie, Miller, Andrew, and Tyler. That’s it. I feel like I know and still talk to just as many old professors as I do my friends.

Welcome Week hasn’t changed at all either. Not that I expected it to, but there were just tons of people out, it was ridiculous. You’d think that it would be nothing to me, since I’ve done the welcome week thing quite a bit, but it’s not everyday that you see thousands of college students out partying. And the freshman are the easiest to recongnize because they will be the ones in packs of 20+, and they’re extremely sober because obviously they are way under age.

One thing that I just kind of thought of, is if you think back to your college years, and all that we went through and dealt with, and every last bit of fun that we had. Just think about that for like two seconds. And then think about all of these incoming freshman that have no idea what they are about to go through. They have no clue about all of the life changing events that are going to happen, whether it be meeting friends for life, meeting your future spouse, that opportunity to make it big, etc.

That kind of bugs me out a little bit because we (alums) were all in position once, and personally, I didn’t know anything. I was naive to sooo much. So it’s interesting being able to briefly recap my college years and then look at the new jacks coming into the school and to think “Wow, life is about to get real damn interesting”. This is definitely one of those times where you can easily look from the outside-in because we’ve been there done that.

Even though it made me feel old looking at the youngsters, at the same time, it makes me damn proud that I was able to spend some of the best years of my life (thus far) as a Spartan. I am one proud ass alumni!

There are more amongst us!

Monday, December 12th, 2005

What up! Unfortunately its Monday already, which means were are two downsides to that: it means the weekend is over, and there are another 5 full days til this coming weekend. Thats lame, but anyways the weekend was very good, yet tiring as well.

Friday night we all went out to Crunchies for a few drinks which was fun. No one really got too trashed cause we had to get up for the big graduation. There are some interesting people at Crunchies, and it seems that there are reasons why I haven’t gone there too much. I can’t say its my type of crowd, but whatever, to each his own. Im not a karaoke person either so that doesn’t exactly help either. Never the less, it was still cool to be out with everyone.

Saturday was the graduation for Kell and Colleen!! So congrats to them, and they are now apart of the elite alumni status that the rest of us are so proud to have…….at least I know I am. The graduation was good though, it went faster than I thought it would. The highlight would have to be this dude that walked the stage, then right in front of the camera this cats pulls a bottle from under his robe and pops it open and starts chuggin. I thought that was classic! Of course they took the bottle from him like instantly because, you know, Michigan State can’t have that kind of activity reflecting upon the university…….

So after graduation, we did the whole picture thing with Kell, because Colleen didn’t graduate til later in the day, but she slipped in a picture or two. Then we all treked it down to Sterling Heights for a little post gradation party at the LaLone’s house. We had a lot of fun there, and one of the things that made it the most fun was our intense ping pong games. Thats right, we got down on some ping pong for HOURS!! That shit was soo much fun, although I didn’t get into my groove til it was time to leave, so my record on the night wasn’t the most fabulous, but whatever it was fun. Uncle William for sure gets the first place trophy on the night because he played for like two straight hours cause obviously winner stays. But it was sooo much fun. Then of course you can’t expect anything less than good eats when you are in the presence of the LaLone family, so we ate rather good. Even got some leftovers!!! It was really fun, and the only thing that was missing was like a 2 hour nap, but its all good.

After all of that, we trekked it back to EL so that we could go out. It wasn’t gonna be one of those huge party nights, we just wanted a few cocktails and a place where we could all relax……..it was an exhausting day and no one had it in them to do it big for the night. So we kept it chill for a bit and just had a few drinks. After that we went back to my crib and all chilled and just talked. Even though it wasn’t for long, I liked the little chat we had. I could have done that all night, and I wish we could have. I like those nights when you are with all of your friends, and its just mad chill and talkin goin, no tv, no tunes, just talkin.

We def. are all ready for New Years, and now we gotta get another room to accomodate the whole 2005 New Years roster. I feel much better that we are gonna get another room, cause 11 people in one room is just kinda pushin it! But we will be all good.

Yesterday was spent sleeping, and then putting in a solid 6 hours on Noah’s website that has to be done soon. The main design is basically done, so when/if he approves it i’ll post it for your viewing pleasures.

It’s gonna be a busy week for me, but i’ll post more about it later this week, I dont wanna jump the gun, and plus this blog is fucking long already, and I need to get work done. So until then……..
