So I know it have been over a year since the last time I wrote one of these, but John recently posted a link to one of his old blog entries and that got me thinking and I thought what the heck I might as well. So there are a couple of things I wanted to talk about. The first being that I graduated from college again last weekend. Thats right I now have to bachelors degrees. Now the hard part begins, finding a job. Its kind of scary, well to be honest it is really scary. For the last three years I have been working on becoming a teacher, and while it was hard I really enjoyed it. The thing is being a student is safe, there is always someone telling me what to do, the expectations are clearly defined. Now however it is on me to find a job and while I know that I am going to be an amazing teacher, probably one of the best my students are ever going to have, I have this fear, this rock in the bottom of my stomach fear, that I am never going to find a job. I have the grades (I was on the deans list for 3 of the five semester I got a grade at Bowling Green), I have the awards ( I scored in the top 10% of the nation on the tests you need to get your teaching license), and I went to the right school (Bowling Green is in the top 20 nationally for undergrad in education) I’m still afraid I wont be able to find a job. Yeah so by the way if any of you know of a High School Social Studies position thats available let me know.

So as some of you may know one of the family dogs died a couple weeks ago. Rocky was the best little dog in the world. I seriously don’t know a single person person who has ever seen him that didn’t want to take him home for themselves. And while I still miss him alot, my parents and sister have caught puppy fever. My sister bought herself a puppy that she is picking up on Saturday, my parents bought two that they are getting in June. I mean they were talking about getting another dog well before Rocky died, but I don’t know it seems that they are just trying to replace him. I don’t know where I am going with this, it just seems too soon to me.

Is it just me but are there no good movies coming out anymore? I mean Iron Man are you kidding me? I liked comic books for about 3 months 20 years ago and I promise you Iron Man wasn’t one of them. I can’t believe how much people like that crap, I will for sure be waiting until it comes out on HBO before I see that.

Seriously how much are the Lions going to suck again this year? I gave up any hope for a good team when we drafted Mike Williams a couple of years ago, but seriously is Matt Millen even trying any more? What does it take to get fired? I am not even going to try and write the two guys we drafted in the first two rounds names, but I can tell you I have never heard of them before. I was actually kind of surprised we didn’t draft Devin Thomas the wide receiver from State (also from my hometown of Canton by the way) I mean with Roy Williams in the last year of his contract we are going to need a receiver after he goes anywhere but Detroit next year. My prediction the Lions will go 5 and 11, Millen will keep his job but Marinelli (the head coach) will get fired.

State should be good next year though, at least we have a good shot of beating Michigan and thats always a successful season when that happens. I’m guessing 8 and 4 maybe 9 and 3 if we get lucky. Yeah in case you couldn’t tell I can’t wait for football to start again. I can handle no football while college basketball is playing because then I have State to root for, but from the time State gets knocked out of the NCAA tournament until football starts I really don’t watch that much sports. For some reason I can’t get into the NBA (if the Pistons go to the Finals I will probably watch that but thats about it) baseball is only good if I am at the game and half in the bag, and hockey shouldn’t even be considered a sport.

One last topic before I end this, what happened to HBO? HBO used to have the best shows The Wire, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, Rome, Band of Brothers, and of obviously The Sopranos. Now they got nothing, well not completely nothing there is still Entourage thats a pretty good one, and there is another one coming out this summer about the Iraq War from the guys that made the Wire that looks pretty good but I can’t think of the name. Thats about it. Showtime on the other had is really hitting
some homeruns with their programing; Weeds, the Tudors, Dexter, Californication, and probably my favorite Brotherhood. If you haven’t seen Brotherhood I suggest you check it out (its about two brother from Providence Rhode Island one brother is a state senator the other is head of the Irish mob) Its like the Sopranos with politics.

What’s up everybody, it’s time for another Uncle William Speaks. I know it’s been a long time since I wrote one of these, but hey I am lazy and that’s the reason I stopped writing my own blog. I don’t really have a topic in mind right now but I guess I could mention that as I write this the cops are in my apartment.

Why you ask? Because my roommate has all sorts of drama with his girlfriend. To be honest, I am not used to all this drama. Most of my friends are pretty laid back, we are all older than him and his girl (he is 20 his girl is 19). They are always fighting with each other and to be honest it is really really annoying.

The cops are here though cause she was picking up some dude that likes her from the bar that and he was in like creeper-stalker mode, and when he got into her car, this dude tried to kiss her and he got out and confronted them. She goes into this thing like “he is drunk and we weren’t doing anything,” he starts yelling at this dude, and the guy gets out of her car, goes to his car and grabs a base ball bat. My roommate (who just had knee surgery) sees him coming for him with this bat and proceeds to take it away from him, throws him down and starts beating him in the face.

How all of this leads to cops in my apartment I am not too sure on, but that’s the story my roommate gave me when I asked him why there are cops here. His girl is a bitch anyways, and to be honest if I were him I would have kicked her to the curb awhile ago.

Anyways, I was back in Canton last night at the rents house. I got a call from momma Petersen yesterday after class and I had to go home to trade cars with my dad. See, him my sister and I get a new car every year and he had ordered a truck for himself. The truck is replacing the Fusion that I drive and I get his escape now until its my turn to order a new car (which should be some time in march they told me). It’s all good though, I like the escape, I had one before and this one has a bunch of nice extras because my dad ordered it for himself about 6 months ago.

So anyways, after class me and my cousin drove back to Canton to exchange the cars and my mom was so grateful to not have to drive down to Bowling Green to do it herself. She took us to Meijer and bought us groceries. Yeah I know I am 26 but hey free food is free food and I am a dirt poor college student.

Speaking of being dirt poor, I need to find myself a job already. All I want is like 15 hours a week at somewhere that isn’t fast food so I don’t have to shave my beard off. I am pretty excited though cause we set the date for the next get together for the crew. Now don’t get me wrong I like bowling green and all but the friends I have here aren’t as good of friends as these guys (and gals) are, and I don’t think they ever could be. Nothing against them or anything its just we have been through so much shit together.

One thing that’s different at BG that I never really experienced at State, was here I get a lot of people who I like to call [in my head] “class friends.” It seems it’s just about every class I have there is a group of students (usually about 4 or 5) that always sit by me and we talk before, after, and during class.

I don’t know what it is but it seems like I am always “holding court” in class before it starts. A lot of the time it starts out with people who have had a class or two with me before, and then since they recognize me, we start talking. I really don’t know why they start talking to me, I guess its because I talk a lot during class. Then the people around us start talking too and before I know it there is a group of us. Its really funny though because I always sit in the back of class, where I’m most comfortable, and I never skip, and the group around me hardly ever skips too. So it’s weird we always have the highest attendance of any section in the class.

Now, I never see these people outside of class. Well that’s almost true: there was this one girl who I started making plans with outside of class, we went out a few times, but she did some immature girly bull shit that forced me to say screw that I don’t need the hassle in my life. So I won’t be seeing her outside of class anymore. But yeah I never see these people outside of class that’s why I call them my class friends.

I have to mention this before I am done writing, which is, my favorite new tv show. I absolutely love Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Its writing by Aaron Sorkin (the guy behind West Wing and Sports Night, also shows that I liked), but apparently the ratings haven’t been that good for it. So everybody, if you haven’t seen it, check it out. It’s a quality show. It airs on Monday’s at 10, but not the next Monday. NBC is showing Friday Night Lights instead. I heard if it gets better ratings than Studio 60 they might cancel it so everyone has to boycott NBC this Monday, but the one after it watch Studio 60!

Alright, that’s probably long enough. I hope you all enjoyed reading this. One last thing, there is an election coming up in a couple weeks so make sure you get out the vote and vote democrat. Like I always say, if you are a republican you are either rich or stupid.

Whats up people? Its Uncle William, coming at you with another uncle William speaks. So I told John I was gonna write this thing like a week and a half ago, but a funny thing happened that day, my roommate Rob bought a Xbox 360. See the thing is I don’t have cable yet, and I’ll be the first one to admit that tv runs my life in the evenings. There is a good 4 nights a week where I got certain shows that I watch. And I seem to lose track of time when it isn’t broken into half hour and hour increments.

To make a long story short I get back from class and play 360 all night and by the time I realize what time it is I am to tired to write this thing. All is well, however, because we are getting cable tomorrow, well hopefully we are anyway, the cable guy is supposed to be here sometime between 1 and 5, the problem with that though is we all have class at 2:30 so that dude better be here right at 1.
Subject change
Classes have started up again and it’s a new year of classes. I got this one education class where I can’t really tell if my prof is cool or a dick. He jokes around a lot in class, and if you know me at all you should know that I am not one to keep my mouth shut. Especially here in Bowling Green ccuse the classes are so small and its easier to converse with the prof.

Anyway, Monday before class I was talking to this girl I know and we had a question about the quiz we were about to have. I couldn’t remember his name so I said “dude I gotta quick question.” Well he jumps down my throat a little bit about callin him dude. He said something like “first of all you aren’t going to get anywhere in this class calling me dude.” So I hit him back with a “my bad, I just forgot your name and didn’t know what to call you” so he told me his last name and said I could call him Kevin, which I thought would have ended it. But the rest of the day on Monday and all day today whenever he would call on me he would call me dude. And I talk a lot so it comes up quite a bit. Its like get over it already dude. (yeah I noticed I ended that sentence with a dude, its just one of the things I say like, right, or ura spoon).

I have another education class this semester but it only meets Tuesdays from 6 to 9, well its supposed to go to 9 but we get out at 8. Well anyway the first weekend I was down here I went out to a party with my cousin and some of his friends. Ok and to have this story make sense I gotta let you in on some background information. Me and my friends from State we are nicknamed the “Stoddard boys” but it really comes from the guys I hung out with in Emmons. Travis, D, John, and Double 0. True they all ended up living at Stoddard but so did some other people.

Anyway we used to do this thing when we were drunk where you slap a cup or a drink out of someones had. You always had to be outside but if you got your drink knocked down you just got caught slippin. Everyone would laugh and then you spent the rest of the night trying to do it back to the person that did it to you. Back to the party, well I was pretty drunk and ended up doing it to one of my cousins friends. Not thinking that it would be taken any other way than the joking nature I had intended. The guy I did it to didn’t get really pissed at me, I think he was more shocked than anything else. This other guy that was standing next to us though got a little beer on the back of his legs, and he didn’t find it very amusing at all.

At first I apologized to him cause I felt bad, I was clearly in the wrong I didn’t mean to get any beer on him though you now. This faggot guy keeps up with the attitude though. I started to cop a attitude back at him but we left for the bar shortly after it happened. And at this point you are probably wondering what the hell did all this have to do with the class on Tuesdays from 6 to 9. Well in this class we do about a hour of small group work and watch a video for a hour. In my small group that will meet every week and do all the projects together is this jackass that I spilled beer on at that party. He wasn’t being a dick or anything in class though and actually was the person I got along with the best in the group.

Well I think this is long enough and I have let ya’ll in on enough of my life for one blog. College football starts this weekend. My buckeyes are opening up with Northern Illinois. And MSU starts off with Idaho. Football season is here and it is my favorite time of the year. I am predicting a national championship for the Buckeyes this year, but then again I say that every year. The offense is unstoppable and Jim Tressle always puts together one of the best defenses in the nation year after year. Its not like he didn’t know this was coming losing all these players on defense he has been recruiting accordingly. If they can get past Texas at Texas I don’t think there will be anyone that can stop them. As for Michigan State, we are gonna go 3-0 or 4-0, lose 4 or 5 straight then go .500 the rest of the year, just like every other year. Drew Stanton will ball a couple of games but eventually he will get hurt because he is 85 percent of the offense.
That’s all I got. Peace
